Connect Proton Calendar
Privacy-first scheduling made simple
Proton Calendar is built for privacy. This guide will walk you through exporting a read-only ICS link from Proton and connecting it to Book that Meeting in under two minutes.
- An active Proton Calendar account
- A Book that Meeting account (free to create)
- 2 minutes of your time
Step-by-step guide
Open Proton Calendar Settings
Log into your Proton Mail account and navigate to Calendar from the app switcher. Then click the Settings icon (gear) in the sidebar.
Enable Calendar Sharing
Select the calendar you want to share from the list. Under the "Share" section:
- Toggle "Enable sharing" to ON
- Ensure "Share with anyone who has the link" is selected
- Set permissions to "Can view" (read-only)
Copy Your ICS Link
Once sharing is enabled, you'll see an ICS link. Click "Copy link" to copy it to your clipboard.
The link will look something like this:
https://calendar.proton.me/api/calendar/v1/url/...Add to Book that Meeting
Now head to Book that Meeting:
- Go to Settings → Calendars
- Click "Add Calendar Source"
- Paste your Proton ICS link
- Give it a name (e.g., "Personal Proton")
- Choose a color for easy identification
- Click "Save"
Verify Sync
Check the availability preview in Book that Meeting. Your Proton events should now appear and block out time slots automatically.
Troubleshooting
Events not appearing?
- Verify that "Enable sharing" is toggled ON in Proton Calendar
- Check that permissions are set to "Can view" (read-only)
- Try clicking "Refresh Calendar" in Book that Meeting settings
- Wait up to 15 minutes for the initial sync to complete
Need to rotate your link?
If you suspect your ICS link has been compromised:
- Go back to Proton Calendar Settings
- Toggle "Enable sharing" OFF, then back ON
- Copy the new ICS link
- Update the URL in Book that Meeting
Timezone issues?
Make sure your timezone is set correctly in both Proton Calendar and Book that Meeting. Mismatched timezones can cause availability to appear incorrect.
